Family & Friends
Everyone has an animal they’d like to be, and curiously most of us share the traits of some charming creature or bold beast, whether physical or charismatic.
Alexia’s new illustrations feature family and friends – relations, best friends, other halves and children are all depicted in their animal partnerships, each group scooting off on their own adventures… you might recognise someone you know!
NB. All characters appearing in this work are not fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely intentional.
Alexia Tucker is a freelance illustrator working in Bristol after studying Illustration at Falmouth College of Arts. Her life-like creatures and characterful buildings combine delicate line drawing with wit and humour. Alexia’s vibrant, colourful work has been commissioned by clients such as Hay Festival of Literature, the Telegraph, and various arts venues and festivals around the South West. She has been involved in projects such as Einstein’s Garden at the Green Man Festival and is currently designing and hand-making a range of products alongside her commissioned work.

Looking Down in Bristol
These photographs reveal bits of Bristol that most people miss because, quite sensibly, they keep their heads up. But by looking down you can see other parts of Bristol … the discarded, the cracked, the neglected, the patched, the ephemeral and the unexpected beauty in the most mundane things.
Joan Wilson is a painter and photographer living in Bristol.

As part of this year's West Bristol Arts Trail, we play host to local, contemporary, landscape artist Sarah Marks.
Sarah works with oil paints on canvas and is inspired by the beautiful West Country, particularly her home town of Bristol, capturing many wonderful aspects of the city, especially the combination of rich tradition and modern vibrancy.

WildWood brings together six illustrators from the Drawn in
Bristol studio. The exhibition will include exciting new work from Liv
Bargman, Alexia Tucker, Claire Shorrock, Gill Chantler, Dawn Cooper and
Katy Christianson, focussed on the theme of woodland and wilderness.
Artwork includes typography, papercutting, screen printing and painting
alongside hand-drawn and digitally created work. Framed prints and
originals will be for sale alongside affordable unframed reproductions.

Scottish born Illustrator, Gill Chantler will be showcasing a collection of her work in a range of prints and gauche paintings.
Trained at Edinburgh College of Art, she specializes in bold colorful work inspired by natural forms, pattern and narrative.

Bristol-based illustrators Pencilface and Louisa Woodworth display a selection of their screnprints and original works. Both revel in the use of bright, bold colours and are influenced by 1970s children's books, weirdo movies, folk tales, and printed textiles.

Robins
Bristol illustrator, Dave Bain, displays a selection of his festive paintings of robins. Displayed amongst seasonal foliage this show highlights his long-term love of ornithology and the joy of capturing flickering moments of the feathered variety.

Muddying the Waters
An exhibition of monotype prints using mud collected from the River Avon in the New Cut. The Avon New Cut was opened in 1809 and the prints were made to commemorate that anniversary but, sadly, not exhibited at the time.

Growing up with views over Dartmoor ignited Sarah’s love of landscape and the interplay of light and colour. She began painting at an early age and went on to study textiles at the West Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham. After a period working as a set decorator on feature films in the UK and abroad she has returned to the West Country and to painting. In her travels and her work she is particularly drawn to the coast with its rich light and sea-worn colours and textures. Her paintings start with the spontaneity and happenstance of monoprint, overlaid with the flat opacity of acrylics.

'f/16' : f/16 is an exhibition by sixteen members of Second Look, a volunteer-run association dedicated to promoting creative photography in Bristol. This exhibition, part of the Bristol Festival of Photography (BFOP), showcases the work of some of the group’s diverse membership covering a broad range of practitioners in the photographic medium. Second Look also runs numerous public events - TalkPhoto (regular photography talks), the annual Photo Marathon and the Bristol a Second Look competition.
